Yesterday I was a bit poorly. After the big feed on Wednesday night, I didn't really manage to have much more, because I'd just fall asleep all the time. A midwife called Amy came to see me and weighed me - she said my crash dieting had resulted in losing 14% of my birth weight, which is too much! Also, I was no longer Red Fred, but had gone a bit yellow - apparently 60% of babies get jaundice and here I was one of them.
Mumbee went back up to Yorkshire on a megabus so we said goodbye to her and then took me to the Birmingham children's hospital. Mummy was so worried that she cried when we went in to see the nurses. They must have thought I was special, because they saw us quite quickly to start with. I got weighed again and again - still the same and they took all kinds of measurements - pulse, oxygen levels and blood pressure were all normal, then we went through for more tests.
We all got very tired waiting for the results of the blood tests and to see what the doctors would say about whether me and mummy had to stay in hospital. Daddy had to go out and get pizza to keep him and mummy fed - it smelled nice, but I couldn't have any, of course. Mummy went up to special place to get some milk out of her breasts because I still couldn't suck it out and I drank 60ml - I was quite proud of myself for that and daddy was very pleased.
In the end, we went up to the neo natal ward at about 11pm (having gone into hospital at about 1.30pm) where a nice nurse helped mummy to feed me through the night and help me get better. Daddy had to go home, but I guess he got more sleep without me around - I hope to be back with him tonight, though!
I am now getting re-hydrated, shouldn't need treatment for my jaundice and England are doing really well in the ashes - now to get home and carry on feeding.
